Stuffed Blue Cheese Potatoes....YUM!

So I made these AMAZING and SUPER easy Cheese Potatoes Skins....SUPER SUPER SUPER EASY!
Enjoy the Holidays~
Stuffed Bleu Cheese Potatoes
Recipe by Our Best Bites

Ingredients:
4 medium baking potatoes
½ Cup sour cream
1 oz (1/4 cup) crumbled bleu cheese
¼ Cup milk or buttermilk
4 Tbs real butter, cut into chunks
¾ tsp salt
Dash pepper
½ t garlic powder
8 pieces bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
Grated cheddar cheese
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.Wash and dry potatoes.Rub them lightly with a bit of shortening or vegetable oil (helps crisp the skin) and place directly on oven rack, or a cookie sheet.Bake for one hour or until potatoes are done.
2. Remove potatoes and let cool just a bit.Cut an opening on the top and hollow out each potato, OR cut each potato in half (as shown in photos) to make 8 servings.You may want to hold them with a potholder as they will still be hot!
3. Scoop out the insides and place in a bowl. Mash, and add butter, sour cream, bleu cheese, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic. Beat with a hand mixer until fluffy. Carefully spoon mixture back into potato shells. Place in a baking dish.
Return to hot oven and bake for 12-15 minutes.
4. Remove and sprinkle bacon and cheddar cheese over each potato
bake an additional 3-5 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly

WOW! Can you believe how time is FLYING! FIRST off: I'M GOING TO AN AUNT......!!!! The Little bro and his wife are expecting!! Very Exciting
Turkey day is TOMORROW, and XMAS is right around the corner. Well There has been SO much going on in the Shelley house hold, Dunc Graduates in a week from college with his MASTERS...yep people I will have a MASTER. I have finally started at the new salon Called BELLA BOUTIQUE SALON AND SPA....Love it there. Duncan's car died, and we got a new one.....CRAZY STORY....still having a hard time trying to have future little Dunc's & Duncinista's.....Lots of praying and temple attending that is forsure....
But with that being said, how blessed we are. I have been SO thankful lately. I have an amazing Husband that is super supportive. He works his BUTT off just to better my life. Its crazy to think of all the many blessings we have. With being able to purchase our first home, we have come into a bind with our vehicles we have help. But more importantly how amazingly loved I have felt from my heavenly Father. He really is my biggest fan. When I was in the temple a few weeks ago I was kinda having a hard time with the whole not having a family yet, with listening to General Conference and hearing the talk about Children... I have realized that they are such a blessing in lives. How badly I felt for not yet being able have one yet......I was sitting in the temple with Duncan and had this amazing impression come upon me that was "Kallee, just ask...."
Im sitting thinking really? Does Heavenly father love me that much that I just need to ask? I have been studying about prayer and trying to figure out what is the proper way of prayer. My mom and dad can tell you that when it comes to praying for me, I do the whole stereotypical mormon prayer. Yep that is right people...Im not perfect, and I have realized I dont know how to give a sincere prayer.
After a hard day of yet another let down for that month (if ya know what I mean) I receive a dear sweet text message from a friend that gave me a blog to look up. She was truly intune with the spirit. It was a blog just about a couple and prayer and family....I was reading through it and she had the same impression that i Had WEIRD!!! And such a blessing.....Now I am not saying that I just have to ask and BOOM heavenly father is going to bless Dunc and I with a little one, but I feel it goes so much deeper than that. I think heavenly father has missed me so much that he was begging FOR ANYTHING for me just to communicate with him. How I love him, and his blessings. I don't know what the future holds as far as this whole thing with trying to start a family. But I know when I get on my knees, the big up stairs is there, cheering me on, giving me strength for the hard times that are to come. What a blessing he is in my life......
HAPPY TURKEY DAY....What are you thankful for???

GIRLS CAMP!!!!

I went, I came back...Got NO SLEEP but guess What People...Girls camp is OVER!!!
WA-WHO....and yes I sure did miss the very Sexy Hubs of mine.

We went to Heber Valley Girls Camp and it B.E.A. UITFUL....
It only rained a couple of Days up there but it was a wonderful experience.
I find myself more and more everyday acting just like the girls...and I have to step back sometimes and realize that I am a leader and still can have fun. ha ha It's so hard.

I never thought I would love a ward so much...When we moved into our ward it was so welcoming. I loved my home ward when I got married and didn't know how anything can compare. This ward that I am in now is AMAZING....I love it, and the YW.
My Beehives are the most beautiful and willing to learn daughters of our heavenly father...
They are amazing.

My Desire....

My Father was a CARROT Top Red head. I am very interested to see if my future children (that will someday be coming hopefully ha ha) if they will have red hair. Whenever I have had my hair colored I LOVE putting red in it.
With the recent happenings with my hair (which let's get real it changes EVERY month...hello? I am a stylist.)

Duncan doesn't love the whole our children having red hair....Because of stereotypes!
Do you feel that Red hair is more accepted in today society? I say to you YES~.....

So the reasonings for all the funky pictures of beautiful red hair is this......................

This would be a HUGE change for me. But I figured since my father was a red head that hey I naturally would have the red head blood in me right????

I SURVIVED!!! 18,500 CFS!

The Duncster and I just got back from a week long vacation of....the Snake River and Uinta's. We are officially camped out, and the lucky thing for me is I get to go to Girls Camp next week.
Dunc and I have had been extremely busy this summer of just pure playin'. It's been so much fun.
We have gone to Canada....Surf N' Swim....we do alot of biking now. ( I am on my adventure of getting back into shape.) And now we have successfully accomplished THE SNAKE RIVER at get this: 18,500 CFS. Many of you are wondering what in the world does that mean. Lets just say its ='s VERY HIGH AND DANGEROUS....pretty much you could DIE. But that of Course doesn't stop me....ha ha
Hope you all are having an awesome Summer....cause I am!

New Adventures...

I don't Know about you but I have been loving the new found time I have to be able to look at blogs.....There are some AMAZING women out there....I found this wonderful lamp that I am going to make...I just need to go to a garage sale and find some cheap stuff....maybe I just need to go to my parental units home and find some....ha ha !!! Enjoy this!

"It did take 5 rolls to make this.... Still $16.00 bucks give or take.... for this lamp is fine by me. Its one of a kind and made with CHIC LOVE..... LOVE IT!

HOW TO: she cut the wire off one side, one end to the other. Then on the other side of the ribbon with the wire, she snipped it until the wire was exposed and pulled the ribbon creating a ruffled look.

WALMART yep... YOU HEARD ME WALMART RIBBON!

Krylon Catalina Mist came to the rescue on the base. She did a clear shiny coat over the paint too.

Then layer by layer I hot glued the ruffle ribbon on .... and OUCH..... got one bad burn. OH' WELL as my mother always says.... "BEAUTY IS PAIN" HA!

To look like this. Also she did not seal the fray with a lighter or candle, because she like the sort of torn rustic look. You can seal the edges if you prefer.

Isn't that so CUTE!!!! I love it!

Lastest Happenings....

So the Duncster and I went to Canada this past weekend to visit Grandma Shelley......It was a lot of Fun! Here are some pictures from our vacation.
The Picture above is a place called "Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump"
You may ask what in the world is that place....well it's just that....The Black foot Indians used to "chase" the buffalo's off the cliff where they would fall to their death for food. Very interesting....but who can say "I have been to Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump." NOT EVERYONE.....

Update! Where Have I been????

First of all....My life has been CRAZY! So before I start explaining my lovely pictures here is what is going down with my life.
First: I no longer work for the State of Utah. I quit my job that I have been working for, for 7 YEARS this past April.
Second: I no longer work for SALON PURE. (Hardest decision in MY LIFE) I have another amazing opportunity with some of the stylist from Salon Pure that left and were opening up another salon and I went with them. Scary decision but it is going to be well worth it. I am very excited. It's
BELLA BOUTIQUE Salon and Spa....so people come get your hair done by me! I promise you will never regret it!!! (some pictures down below)
Third: I work for Marinello as a night time receptionist and it's going grand. Busy but we will see how much longer I will last ha ha!

And I RAN A 1/2 MARATHON!! I am so proud of myself, I cant believe I did it. Without much training I might add. (Never again!!!)
Life is great, I am still rockin in young womens and I love it....(LAURELS CAMP THIS WEEK! WISH ME LUCK!)
I am finally finding for me...and realizing how much I have missed dating my dear sweet husband....

Not to long ago I got permanent make up done (just eyeliner) some people say "Bad bad Kallee," Maybe I shouldn't of got it done...but gosh dang it I sure love it! These are some pictures of my poor eyes the very next day after I had it done....a little swollen and bruised....well worth

Heavenly Father surely knows what is best for me...in the past few days I have questioned him asking him "Are you SURE!?!?" The answer is, You don't question the big guy upstairs...you put your faith in him and put the first foot forward and keep going.

I just quit my state job which most of you who follow me on facebook know that I have been posting that EVERYWHERE. I then got a new job working at Marinello. Then I had a curve ball thrown at me.....

"Sister Shelley, The Banbury Ward (and your Heavenly Father) would like to call as the 2nd Counselor in the YW's"

My thoughts...."Um, Heavenly Father Don't you remember that I just a got a new job on TUESDAY NIGHTS!?!?!"

As I sat there in the office I knew that this wasn't one of those callings where they were just trying to call someone to fill the position. I had impression that I was suppose to do this.

So I am the "NEW-BEE" Leader to the Beehives.....

So WHOEVER out there is a Young Women's Leader I NEED YOUR HELP....I have to teach, guide...come up with the cute ideas??? ME...a person WHO DOESn'T do this!

One thing is for sure.....At least I will finally get my YW's necklace...(yes I know I sort of had a rebellious childhood and did NOT get this....hey they changed the WHOLE program when I was a Laurel...I didn't have time to get the "NEW" one...I got the old ones!!!!

I am very excited for this new adventure....hey At least I am experienced with GIRLS CAMP!!!!!

Did you EVER think about cleaning and ORGANINZING you Fridge? Me I love having things Oraganized, neat and clean. And if there is an opportunity to do that I will. I found this blog called..."ASK ANNA" and it's all about just that.....I wanted to share with you her thoughts...

" Question:"Any thoughts on how to organize the refrigerator? I know we all have different ones, but is there a certain way we should be doing this?"

Answer:Great question! I think organizing your refrigerator should be similar to organizing your freezer. Using baskets to organize makes it easier to get items in and out so before organizing my fridge I bought some baskets. These baskets were on sale at Wal*Mart, 3 for $3. The Dollar Tree and Big Lots also have great baskets.

Step 1: Take everything out. (I did it one shelf at a time).

Step 2: Clean. Wipe down all of the shelves and every nook and cranny. It always blows my mind how dirty the fridge gets, where do all those crumbs come from!?

Step 3: Organize. Before putting things back into the fridge organize them into categories and then put them into baskets. My baskets include Malea's breakfast, Malea's lunch, Dinner ingredients, Pizza makings, etc.

Organizing them into categories like this will make it really easy to access the items you need. If similar items are stored together then you just have to pull the basket out rather than searching through the entire fridge looking for something.After organizing and replacing my items I pulled out my new label maker and went to town! I labeled everything so that my husband would know exactly where to find everything. :) He tends to think that organizing makes life more confusing sometimes (he's weird). Now that everything is labeled there's no doubt. :)

So...it's been a month since I graduated from school. It's been a nice "break." But I still found myself working EVERYday....I had to make a heart breaking decision. I QUIT ONE OF MY JOBS. Specifically the one with the State. I have been with the State working in the Child and Family Services area for 7 YEARS! I got the job right out of High School, and I never looked back. I know the job...I know the people. It's been an amazing experience. But I made this decision because in order for me to pursue a job that I love (hair) I knew I needed to make some "grown up" decisions. My last day with the State is April 14. I can't believe that my time with the state is coming to a close. I also found out last night of new calling for my church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints) that I am not suppose to disclose at this time...that I am Excited, Scared, and Overwhelmed to even think about. I will let you know what that is in a later date. I am continuing to work at SALON PURE, which has been AWESOME! I love it...the girls there are incrediable. I also got another part time job working for.....are you ready.....MARINELLO. Yep I am the new night time receptionist. HA HA after I just left that silly place I am going back. Ha ha but this will be helpful...for my family and for me. Hello? I get to work with MARIANN & CASSIE who are AWESOME. So those are some updates with me...now on to the cuties.

DUNCAN: he is doing great, he has almost finished with his first semester for his MASTER DEGREE (he should be done in Dec in accounting.) He is currently working as an accountant. I sure hope he is loving it. Actually I know that he is...cause he loves to tell me that he is a #'s guy. And trust HE IS! He has been loving our new little home that we have. It's been such a great blessing in our lives. Both Dunc and I had birthday's in march and we hit a milestone....we both turned 25! It's weird to be a quater of a century....ha ha but it's a good thing. We are also planning a trip to Canada to visit some of Dunc's relatives...Yes people I FINALLY got my passport...it only took three years! ha ha

With working 40hrs and going to school for 40hrs...I know have a life again. I have purpose....I have a husband that is in desperate need of attention from "his cuties."

I have.... once again.....had a "crafting inch!" And even more now that I am getting closer to graduating for Cosmo school....I am so so so excited to put my crafting hands to work....here is my next project...I am going to make two (St. Patty's day and easter!" Ill post pic!

From: OUR BEST BITES....Amazing ladies!

Supplies Needed:

wreath form- I used a 14" foam form ($3 at the craft store)

felt- one color, or a variety (quantity explained below)

scissors

glue gun

ribbon or tulle for hanging

You could certainly buy felt by the yard, but I just bought the pre-cut rectangles you can get at the craft store in a rainbow of colors. You need squares to make your flowers, so you'll have to cut the felt accordingly. If you're using felt by the yard, a 4" square works nicely. As you can see from the picture below, it's totally fine to eyeball!

Save that strip on the side because we'll use those later. I got 4 squares per sheet. When I was at the store I couldn't decide what color to use so after a mild panic attack in the felt isle I decided to go multi-color and I bought 10 sheets of each color. I have white, light pink, and dark pink.

I've drawn out the shape you need to cut, just so you can see it. But when you're doing this project you don't need to measure anything. Really! Just eyeball your squares, then eyeball this swirly shape.
Start from the outside and just cut a spiral inward.
Until you have a shape like this.
Then start from the middle of the spiral and just roll it up
The great thing is that unlike the fabric flowers that you have to constantly glue, these just stick to themselves so you can just roll them up and set them aside.

You'll need a lot of roses, but they're pretty fast to make- especially if you have a helper. When I did this project, I sat and cut spirals and my husband rolled them while we watched football. Real men can do that. Before half time we had a whole tray full of flowers.

The only other supplies you need are a wreath form and a glue gun. Since my wreath form was green, I decided at the last minute to give it a quick coat of white paint. Smart move since you may have some negative space showing through.

Then just start gluing. Place the flowers close to each other, but not so close that they smoosh each other.

Keep working your way around. I did the top part first to make sure it looked good, and then moved around the sides and into the middle. You'll find you need a lot in order to fill all of the spaces so here's a tip. With your fabric scraps, just cut long straight strips and roll them straight up, like sushi. They won't look as pretty as the roses, but they're perfect for filling in small spaces and for the sides that aren't very visible. Including the straight strips of fabric, I had the perfect amount of felt sheets for the 14" wreath

A good tip to see if you're done is to hold your wreath up to a flat wall. Then peek around the sides and you'll see what still needs to be covered. I left the back empty and just covered what's visible when hanging.

Once it's all covered, just tie a ribbon, or tulle like I used and hang it up! I love the look of tulle for Valentine's.

Hair Do's & Don't's!

As I come to my final days as a "Cosmotology Student" and enter the world of "Professional" I thought what better way to start this new adventure or what some people like to call it "my next chapter in my life" then posting about what I have learned......now people the beauty industry is fast moving, growing and continually changing....thats what I love. I have had several clients come into "my chair/Marinello's Chair" wanting to pull their hair out cause they hate it, they can't keep the look up, they don't know what they want, or "the other stylist jacked my hair up...."

So here my fellow people...some tips, some advice and certainly the DON'T'S~

* Conditioner, now what does this offer for the hair? Well it offers A LOT of good things, moisture for one, but protein, vitamin's, shine & and overal improvement of the hair. I know that some of you out there don't use conditioner you see it as a "added expense," it makes your hair "too greesy."

When this happens you might not be using the right product for your hair/texture or whatever...

Color formulated conditioner's help keep your color lasting longer and is more vibrate. If you feel that your hair tends to be dry, go get a scalp treatment, deep condition. Conditioner is not just for the hair it's also helps the scalp keep from dry flacks.....

On my adventure of "Professional Products" vs. "Store brand" I have found myself amazed. There are so many AMAZING brands out there. One that I have found BECAUSE of the conditioner is this line called DermOrganic. It's silky, smooth, shiny, smells amazing! But most importantly DOES WONDERS to the HAIR.....(vegan friendly) This stuff puts protien back into your hair. Starts to build that strand back to the "healthy state" I love the Gloss that I put on my hair when it's wet and dry.

* Color Ladies....let's talk color.....I went into Beauty School, a little...no EXTREMLY Bais....Redken...need I say more??? I L. O. V. E. REDKEN!!! It's beautiful, shiny, yummy for YOUR HAIR....box color='s BAD BAD BAD BAD!!! Now some of you may think but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for HAIR COLOR....people....why buy something that is stripping the nutrients in YOUR HAIR...are you wondering why your hair is feeling fried (yes sometimes stylist who don't know what the heck they are doing.....I am sorry that you have experienced that) but PLEASE don't put box colors on your hair....it really isn't good for your hair....plus going to the salon is such a relaxing time....I love it!

* I have "re discovered" how to "back comb/ratting" my hair....in the words of Marc Parsons...only 12 strokes will do the job....I love the "utah poof" but I have learned a better (I don't know if there is really a better way) of creating that look!!! Yay for killer "ratter's comb's!

I used to HATE, I mean HATE round brushing...I love it done on my hair....I HATED it doing it to my hair...but I LOVE IT NOW....People get yourself a good round brush for your hair...it's creates smoothness, shine and ='s less time with the thermal iron......

In the words of one of my amazing instructors:

"If you are not sweating when you are round brushing you are not doing the job"

Let's talk about Shampoo....

I think that best part about the Salon experience is getting your hair washed....it's relaxing, soothing, smells good....etc....

Buying professional products really makes a HUGE difference.

If you buy professional products you will have professional looking hair....You get you what you buy....truely....

As some of you know...I do nails....it's talent that I discovered in Hair School. With me self discovery of "NAIL PRODUCTS" I have learned the art of GEL.....and my tip for you all to helping with a great manicure nail in a snap is: SOLAR OIL by : CND. It's cuticle oil...you cuticles need "The goodness," put this on your fingers daily (even with fake nails on) and you will see improvement to your nails overal apperance.

Did you know that when you go and get your hair cut, after 2 WEEKS that the overal shape changes....now you know that getting your hair cut every three weeks is not just a money making trick. It's to help YOU as the client to keep that amazing look you have wanted.

When you have "fried" ends the only way to get rid of them is not deep conditions, yes THEY NEED TO BE CUT OFF. When they are done, they are done....remove them. But please do you take some paper cutting scissors and do it yourself....you are just causing more splits ends to appear in the future.

IBD, is the gel I use. I thought I would be a Creative Gel (brisa) fan, but I have found that I love to work with IBD

When Styling my hair, how I create hold, shine etc...I use Trilliant by Sebastian. It's thermal protector....I love this product cause it can also help with shine. It's smells great and is very light weight on the hair.

I have learned that when you are doing hair ALL DAY, pretty much every day you need a good starightner....now heat in general is not the best (the reason why you should round brush your hair) but I have had NO problems with CHI straightners. I love them....I just recently bought a GHD straightner which is very comparable to a CHI. I will let you know what I think.....

Pureology Texture Twist....Need I say more? AMAZING!

Gets rid of your "Fly aways," and it's helps with mmmm....TEXTURE! LOVE AND SWEAR BY THIS STUFF!

Matrix, Now I haven't played around Matrix to really have an opinion about it...but I am super excited to try this product, I have used a little bit of it and I can tell that I will love it!

So, this is HOW YOU can do it...
FIRST, I googled "easy dinner recipes".
The blog it sent me to was this one

and takes you step by step.
That's exactly what I need!
I started with 4 pages of 12x12 scrapbook paper 2 black and 2 polka dots, of course! I glued the black papers together. I cut my polka dot paper small enough to make 5 pockets on the front. I glued my pockets just on the sides. I printed off the "Weekly Menu" and days of the week...I will be taking Saturday and Sunday off! :) Glued those down on my left over black scraps to make a frame. Glued those down. Made 2 extra pockets at the top for extra recipes. Printed off some recipes onto card stock. Stuck them in the pockets. And done. It's been working out great!

Exercise? What do you think when I say the word Exercise?!!?!?

Well do you want to know what I think...I think opportunity to get my life back on the right track of healthy living....with going to school and work I have, what you like to call it "Let myself go.." about two years ago I lost ALOT of weight...now I haven't gained ALL the weight back but I have gained SOME of it back.

This is my RE-COMMITMENT to a "Healthier ME!!" Because I want to feel that I have energy again....

It's the new year and I will soon have a NEW CAREER and I need a NEW ME! RIGHT??

This is my goal

1: To cut out Candy...(it's my weakness)

2: No Pop (aka Soda)....Crystal is AWESOME...in controlled portions...

3: Exercise 3-4x's a week...for at least 30 minutes....(once out of School....I can certainly increase it!)

4: JUST TRY TO BE BETTER EVERY DAY....Don't Kill yourself...Love myself

5: And my last and final goal

loose 15lbs by my graduation date.
I CAN DO IT!

Yes people this is my papa and "the Cuties" riding an elk...there is a story behind it. My Parental's house now is mini Cabella's thanks to this crazy beast (so sad)....the cuties went over to the parentals to help them hang it up. Needless to say they couldn't help but take a moment to take pictures while they were riding this beast.

"Today I will be showing you how I made these cute Dollar Store NOEL boxes. I love the Christmas song "NOEL" its a fav. for sure.I bought these boxes at the dollar tree plain. You can find most boxes at most craft stores.

I first started by painting the lids with acrylic paint in wicker white. Let dry.

Then I painted the boxes a Red Berry Barn. Let dry.

Next I used gold glitter glue and applied it with my index finger. Let all dry.

Then from a super old hymn book I took out the music notes to "Noel". I cut it to size, took scissors and roughed the edges and then mod podged it on.

For the lettering I used the Platinum Schoolbook Cartridge and cut out the letters from my Cricut. Alternating green card stock with the hymn music note paper. The letters too got Glitter Glue and on the music hymn letters the entire front got all covered in glitter glue. The letters too were mod podged on. Let all dry, and lastly add your lids and you are done. "

ANOTHER ONE....Another One.....Another AMAZING recipe/fun, tradition makin goodie for CHRISTMAS....

LOVE LOVE LOVE "OUR BEST BITES" WOOT WOOT!

AKA: "Why yes, you may have that raise" cupcake jars, or "Oh my gosh I think I love you" cupcake jars, or "Yes of course we should agree to a ceasefire, in fact let's do dinner tonight" cupcake jars. You get my point, right? I have no other words, these are amazing. It's like Christmas in a jar. It's a rich fudgy cupcake filled and topped with a creamy and decadent peppermint ganache. Then topped off with a cool,sweet layer our favorite frosting (also peppermint spiked) and sprinkled with crushed candy canes. And striping the frosting is just icing on the cake! Literally. I put them in jars because that just makes them extra fun, and it's like this great personalized little gourmet gift. It might seem like a lot of steps, but really it doesn't take all that long. If you want to break up the load, I would suggest making the cupcake and ganache layers and then screwing the jars on and storing overnight. Then next day (or even couple of days) when your kitchen is nice and clean again just whip up some frosting and pass them out fresh.

The cupcake itself is out of this world. I adapted it from a recipe in a book that both Kate and I love. I knew just looking at the recipe for the first time that it would be rich and fudgy because the ingredients and method are more along the lines of a brownie than a cupcake. Skip the electric beater on these babies, all you need is a wooden spoon.

It starts with melted butter and chocolate. How could anything that starts with melted butter and chocolate not end well?

And like I mentioned, just stir in the dry ingredients by hand. That actually makes this recipe really quick and easy, no messy beaters and butter fluffing.
Fill up your cute little jars. These are the same jars we use for our Pie in a Jar. The cupcakes will rise and you need room for both the frosting and the ganache, so fill them no more than 1/2 way full.
Pop those in the oven, and you can prepare your ganache while they're baking. Cream. Chocolate. Peppermint. Can't go wrong there either.

Some of your cakes may have a little well in the center which makes a great little holding spot for the ganache. You can also take a paring knife, or an apple corer works great, and hollow out the center like this:

It's really up to you. If you don't have a lot of space on top you might want to hollow out the center. If you've got room and want more of a layer of ganache on top, then skip the coring and just pour the ganache on top. Once your cakes have cooled to close to room temp (a little warm is okay) pour ganache over each one. If your ganache has gotten too thick to pour at this point, just warm it up in the microwave in about 10 second intervals.

Then tilt the jars around so you get a complete chocolate cover. This actually helps keep the cupcake part really moist and fresh so you can wait a day or two to share them, or finish them if you don't have time to do it all at once.

The last step is the frosting. I'm using our favorite frosting recipe. If you haven't tried it, you need to! If you make it and love it, then you must must try it with the peppermint extract.I'm going to show you a fun trick to getting that candy cane stripe! You'll need gel food coloring (available in the baking isle, a clean paint brush (I keep a set just for baking/cooking) and a piping bag. This works great with parchment paper bags too (in fact, I think it sticks a little better to parchment) so if you have a tip and some parchment you can just make your own. If you don't have anything but the food coloring you could try winging it with a large ziplock bag with the tip cut off. that would probably work just fine, it just might be a little difficult to have the food coloring stick to the bag as you'll see in the next step.

Fold down the outer edge of your bag so it sits open by itself. Dip your brush into your food coloring and paint lines up the side of your bag. And yes, I'm completely aware that mine looks freaky- like my piping bag got attacked by a bear or something. I paint all the way down to my tip.

Then carefully add your frosting. Try to plop it in there right in the center so you don't have to mush it around too much. As you pipe out the frosting, the color will come out in lines and you'll get a great candy-cane stripe! (On a side-note, try this technique with rainbow colors and colorburst cupcakes- how amazing would that look?!)

Just give it a nice swirl, being careful to not go above the top of the jar, and then sprinkle some crushed candycanes on top.

Now you can place the lids and rings on and dress the jars up any way you please.

When you bust into that baby you'll get all three layers of frosting, ganache, and cupcake.

Tie on a ribbon or two and you're set for giving.

Peppermint Fudge Cupcake JarsRecipe

by Our Best BitesMakes approximately 8 jars or 12 Cupcakes Cupcakes (cake base for this dessert adapted from Shelly Kaldunski)

2/3 cup all-purpose flour

2 1/2 Tbs unsweetened cocoa powder

3/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

3 oz chocolate, chopped.

Use bittersweet, dark, or semi-sweet.

1/2 C + 3 Tbs real butter,

cut into pieces

3/4 C plus

2 Tbs sugar

3 large eggs, at room temperature

1 tsp vanilla extract

8 8oz wide mouth mason jars (the short squatty kind)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the chocolate and butter in a large heatproof bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth. Set mixture aside and let cool 10-15 minutes. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Using a wooden spoon (don't use an electric mixer) stir the sugar into the chocolate mixture until combined. Stir in the eggs one and a time, beating with your spoon until combined after each addition, and then beat in the vanilla. Gently fold in the flour mixture just until no traces of flour remain; do not overmix.Place the mason jars on a cookie sheet. Divide the mixture evenly among the 8 jars (no need for greasing the jars) or 12 cupcake liners if you're going that route. The jars should be about half full or a little less. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the jar comes out with only a few moist crumbs attached 22-25 minutes. Remove from oven and carefully (with a pot-holder!) transfer jars to a cooling rack. Let jars cool till at least close to room temperature before topping with ganache

Well I have eaten turkey, gobble and wobbled until I fell over, after eating tones of pies and goodies...I moved into "THE HOUSE" it was crazy. Duncan has amazing friends, and we have amazing family that helped us paint, moved...scare mouses away (in the old apartment we had a mouse I decided to name him Gus Gus)

I spent this WHOLE weekend putting up a Christmas tree, moving boxes and getting our house in order. We have a few things here and there, but mostly it's all in order. We have a new table coming this thursday (THANKS SO MUCH MAMA & PAPA SHELLEY XMAS GIFT!) and a new sectional for the downstairs...now it's to go into "Home Owner Mode" which is scary/happy all at the same time.

I also signed up for the STATE BOARD test for Cosmotology for next Tuesday! Wish me luck people....only like 400 hours to go...I AM SO EXCITED, I might have a life after this!!!

Pictures of the house will come soon....I kinda need to take some pictures of the after....(should of seen the house BEFORE, I felt like a Horder!)

Ingredients/Supplies

Double Stuff Oreo Cookies

Candy Corn

Whoppers

Peanutbutter Cups

Chocolate frosting

Yellow Frosting

Optional: Red frosting

Optional: black sprinkles for eyes

"*For these kinds of things I love to use the little pre-filled tubes of colored frosting you can buy in the baking isle. The chocolate is easy to make, and homemade actually works a little better because you can make it stiff. However for the colored details like yellow and red, these little tubes are great. It doesn't really matter what they taste like and they last forever (which is both cool and disturbing at the same time.) I'm using store-bought tubes for everything here purely for convenience- works great!First step: Grab a cookie. You don't have to put frosting in there, but I like to because it holds in the candy corn a little better. Just give it a little squeeze of chocolate.
Then stuff in your candycorn. If you're in some sort of candy corn shortage, you can cut off the white tips to use later for your beaks. I think the candy corn sticks in better with the tip so I leave it on. Go ahead and do all of the cookies through this step.
Next put a dab of frosting on the opposite end of the cookie and secure it to the "base" cookie. It helps to place them next to a wall as they dry so they stay put.

While those are drying, unwrap your PB cups. Take a sharp knife and cut a sliver off of one end. (I don't need to tell you what to do with the sliver, do I?) It helps to gently cut in a sawing motion so you don't break the PB cup. (Although I wouldn't have to tell you what to do with a broken one either, would I?) Cut it from the bottom like I show here:

Once those are ready, flip your cookies over, but you may find it's easy to keep them next to the wall. My frosting was a bit soft, so they needed the extra support.Place a dab of frosting on the pb cup, and place it on the cookie like so:

Now those little guys will need heads, so glue a whopper on there with frosting as well. I put frosting on the side of the whopper that hits both the cookie and the PB cup. Wouldn't want a turkey running around with its head cut off, would we??

While they're still laying there, use a dab of frosting (I use yellow) and glue on the white tip of a candy corn for a beak. Put two yellow dots on for eyes, and for the black spots in the eyes you can use a dab of chocolate frosting, or a mini chocolate chip, or a little sprinkle like I've used. A sprinkle is really the perfect size if you have them.
Once the beak stays put you can flip them over and draw on some little yellow feet. If you have red frosting too (usually comes in a set with the tube of yellow) you can add a little gobble gobble. Or whatever that thing is called. What is it called? I'm too lazy to google. Extra giveaway entry for the first person who can tell me. Okay not really but I'll think you're awesome.

These make really cute place card holders too, for either a kid, or adult table! I just made little name tags with my Silhouette (what's that you say? You're bummed you didn't win a Silhouette and you wish we'd give away another one? Okay how about this month? You didn't hear that from me. Yes you did. Don't tell. Do tell. Tell Everyone. Forget it) and then I popped them in there on toothpicks.How cute is my little turkey family?

2. print off "... days until christmas" on white cardstock. font used: elise
3. back in a solid cardstock
4. dot your i's with sparkly fun brads.
5. print off numbers 1 through 25 on white cardstock. font used: broadcast
note: the number sheets are 5x7, so you can get 2 out of an 8.5x11 piece of cardstock.6. and if you're feeling fancy... tie some ribbon to the top.

It's Moving time!!!!!

Yes it's true people! The Duncin' Dounut and I have found a little place we like to call HOME!!! YAY!! We are so excited...this road has been so up and down, happy & sad, tears of joy and tears of saddness time in our lives. I feel for those who are in the "starting phase" of trying to find a home. We are hoping to sign "our lives away" this coming weekend. So the packing has BEGUN.

So here is the story......

We started looking for houses clear back in MARCH...yes MARCH....kill me. Duncster and I were trying to find a home before the whole 8,000 dollar tax credit went PoOf! Well, it did....no luck there. We went on our amazing Hawaiian adventure, made great memories.... came back....still no house. So the house huntin' once again began.

Clinton, Syracuse, Roy, South Weber, Plain City, West Haven, Layton, EAST Layton.....you name it we went and saw those houses. NO go....

Oh and can I say this I have seen some pretty nasty houses....HELLO remember where I work? But I have never seen SO MANY houses that are completely and utterly TRASHED...Okay yes I am known as the "drop and plop" Queen....but my house NEVER gets DISGUSTING....I am greatful for parentals that taught me to work hard in the house and outside the house....even if I complained.....thanks Mommy and Daddy.

And Such a hard working Husband who was taught by inspirational parents as well. LOVE YOU!

Anywho-House Hunting

WE SAW like over a 100 houses....CRY ME RIVER.....

had 9 offers put in....we didn't GET ONE! NOT ONE....and come to think of it we are still waiting on some of the stupid short sale houses. (Note to self.....NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I TRY TO GET A SHORT SALE....to many tears lol)

Well we looked and looked and as time was running out (yes our lease will be up Nov 30) WE FOUND A CUTE HOUSE in my Home town...(not trying to move by the parents but it just happened)

It's perfect, I am excited to put decorations, (yes people the Christmas Tree will be the FIRST thing I put up lol)

Let the MOVING, PACKING, PAINTING & DECORATING BEGIN YAY!!!!!

Okay for those you who know me know this.....I love my Husband & Disneyland. But some of you might not know that I LOVE PIZZA! Yes this is true. If I could eat pizza for every meal I WOULD. That is how much I love. Well I found this recipe on

"OUR BEST BITES" and it's STUFF PIZZA BITES!

YUM! And they look super duper easy! I am so excited to try these for my Halloween party! HOLLER! Here is the recipe....Enjoy

Stuffed Pizza Rolls

(You don't really measure, so you get what you get here!)

1 roll refrigerated pizza dough* (or make your own)

marinara/pizza sauce (or just make your own)

2 T grated Parmesan cheese (sorry, I don't know how to make that)

1 T olive oil or melted butter

1/2 t garlic powder

1 t dried Italian seasoning

mozzerella cheese

Pizza toppings of your choice: ie, ham and pineapple, pepperoni slices, sausage, etc.

*You can use regular pizza dough, or thin crust. I used thin crust when taking these pictures.Preheat oven to heat specified on pizza dough package. Usually it's 400 degrees. If you make your own dough, 400 is usually a good heat as well.Unroll your pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pat or roll the dough so it's about 12" by 8". You're going to want to cut it into 24 squares, so just eyeball it if you need to. Use a pizza cutter to slice the dough into 24 squares (bet ya didn't see that one comin' did ya?)Place cheese and desired toppings on each square. (Note that you're not putting the marinara sauce on the dough- it's for dipping after) You guys are smart, right? Just eyeball how much. You just need to be able to enclose the toppings in the dough so keep that in mind. For these ones pictured I used a teaspoon each of cheese, canadian bacon, and pineapple.

When all of your dough squares have cheese and toppings on them, carefully lift up each square and wrap the dough around the toppings. Pinch to make sure each ball is sealed shut and then place them seam side down in a lightly sprayed pie pan (or similar sized dish).Brush the tops of the dough balls with olive oil or melted butter (I've used both and there's not much difference in result) and then sprinkle with the garlic and Italian seasoning and top with Parmesan cheese. (In lieu of the Parmesan, garlic, and Italian seasoning you could substitute this garlic bread seasoning.)
Cook them in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top. Keep an eye on them! Doughs vary, so I'd check them after even 10 minutes.

Serve warm with warmed marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

This past week I have had a lot of thoughts go through my mind, alot of ups and downs. I am LDS and I will never ever deny my faith. I know that Joseph Smith saw Hevenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior, I know Thomas S. Monson is true and living prophet here on this earth. I know that I will be able to live with my family for eternity through the sealing power that is performed in the temple. I am grateful for all that my redeemer has done for me. He died that I might live, he suffered so that I can be clean, he was laughed on and spit on... he did that all for me and for everyone in this world.

I am what the world calls a "mormon."

This next part is kinda hard for me to do, cause I love everyone, but I feel in someways I want, whoever is reading my blog, to know what I feel about this whole situation cause I have been hurt by with recent news, and feel that I need to also make a stand for what I believe.

President Boyd K Packer spoke on same sex relationships. I love this man, I know that he is called of god. Dunc and I have been talking about this BEFORE President Packers talk, his talk just made it more clear to me that where I stand. But some reason lately it has really bugged me and I want to let you know what I believe....

I have many friends that believe that same sex relations are okay, and I love them dearly. I respect and love them as a person. Do I look down on them no, do I want them to run away and never be in my presence never. Should my friends have some rights...yes in ways

The plan of salvation was put in place for us to ALL return to our heavenly father. He wants us to return he wants us to live with him again.

I know that marriage is ordained of god, and it should be between a Man and Woman. This is what I believe. I don't go to the "gays" or what I would like to say is "my friends" and put in there face "You have to accept me cause I am straight." I don't do that. I will respect them cause I would like respect in return.

My belief is this: Marriage is between a man and women

This is not just the LDS church there are other churches as well.

I am suppose to love one another and that is what I will do. My dad always tells me...Just worry about you....So... I am just going to worry about myself and how I am trying to be like my heavenly father and how I am trying to return to him. But please don't smack me down cause I believe in a traditional marriage. Don't say I am "un-american" cause I don't support being gay.

I love the person but I don't agree with the sin.

I know that my heavenly lives, he loves me, he knows my heart. I don't need Hollywood or portestors to tell me that I am going to be causeing some poor kids death.

That was not my decision, I did not cause for those individuals to do those horrible things. I feel for those indiviuals that have to suffer through emotional torment such as this, and as humans we should respect people. My Suggestion is get on those knees pray to your heavenly. He is a source of comfort and of light.

I don't believe the churches stance is to make people feel bad or go in a direction to harm themselves....but to clearly state what they believe, just like what others believe we have that right to do so.

I love this gospel and all that it stands for. All I can do is be respectful, christlike and treat others the way that I would like to be treated.

*Place the patterned paper in your frame. You can leave the glass where it is or move it behind the paper.
*Cut your pumpkin in half, but behind the stem. With the styrofoam pumpkins, you should be able to push the knife straight through.
*Hot glue the pumpkin onto the glass or onto the paper.

Okay I didn't do this specific one but something very similar...I got this one off of the blogger herself eighteen25 (great blog for crafty fun-ness)

I put most of my halloween stuff up and was very excited to put my "BOO" up, I did my BOO in green glitter and attached ribbon to it and hung it from fireplace...(pictures will for surely come) It's super duper easy AND FAST, get the frames from D.I. or Hobby lobby, I got my wood letters from Hobby lobby for like buck, I had mod-podge at home and green glitter which ='s a very inexpensive, super duper cute craft @ no time at all... Here are the instructions:

wood letters from hobby lobby
foam brush
patterned paper
5x7 black frames from wal mart
glitter
acrylic paint
glue (we used elmer's)
"the three of us girls got together to create this project and each of us had to make them a little bit different.
last time the letters were spray painted, but we decided to just give them a quick coat of acrylic paint this time.as soon as that dried, we brushed some glue over the paint and sprinkled on the glitter.let that dry for a bit while you trim your paper down to 5x7's.place the paper in front of the glass and attach your wood letters with the glue."-http://eighteen25.blogspot.com/

Yesterday I went to the doctor
For my yearly physical.
My blood pressure was high.
My cholesterol was high.
I'd gained some weight,
and I didn't feel so hot.
My doctor said eating right
doesn't have to be complicated and
it would solve my physical problems.
He said:
Just think in colors.
Fill your plate with bright colors.
Try some greens, oranges, reds,
maybe something yellow, etc.
So I went right home
and ate an entire bowl of
bright colors.
And Sure Enough,
I Felt Better Immediately !!
I never knew eating right could be so easy !!

OK you may say your favorite holiday is Christmas, Easter, New Years or THE FOURTH OF JULY.....Maybe even your birthday (hey I count my birthday a Holiday)....but some of you may feel the same way I do about this upcoming Holiday....

Yes....it's true I LOVE LOVE LOVE Halloween....People I might even put my decorations up this weekend. (Since my life='s no time, I have to do this weekend since mmmm....I HAVE TIME) You can ask....Kalster....why do you love this holiday so much...well My costume this is year is GOING TO ROCK YOUR SOCK's OFF, I love the fact that Disneyland is now making

"Halloween Time" as crazy fun as "Christmas Time" In california, which ='s MORE DISNEY STUFF TO DECORATE FOR HALLOWEEN!!! I love the scary movies that I hate to watch. I love to go to Haunted Houses and freeze to death NOT YET in the winter snow. I love fall, I love Ghosts busters, and I love the nightmare before chrismas.

But most of all....I am so excited this year cause we are doing our Annual FRIENDS HALLOWEEN PARTY!!! YAY AYYAYA!!!!

SEVEN HUNDRED HOURS UNTIL I AM DONE WITH SCHOOL!!!

Yes it is true, 700....it has been a LONG TIME. I work 40 hours a week and go to school 25+ hours a week...which ='s too: A VERY LONG WEEK. I have been doing this schedule (6 am to work until 5, then to school right after until 10:00 PM at night) for a Year and half! I don't regret it because it has taught me being a dependable employee and being able to work HARD. I believe I am a very hard worker, I know that from my days on being on drill team. When we would have 3 a day practices and we would push and push. I know that I can just hang in there for a little longer.

WISH ME LUCK!!!....Pray for Duncan that he can continue eating PB & J for dinner a little longer as well!!! LOL Love you Cuncan!

Ok, I need to explain this video. This is coming out of Alabama. A girl was attacked by some person in the projects, and apparently the girls bro was pretty upset about this, and told the reporters a "warning" to the intruder. Well it went CRAZY on YOUTUBE, and someone made a song out of it! This is the video it cracks me up!

Life is good....why? It just is. Now that I have a blog working. ha ha....anyway, we have been havin lot's of fun this summer. It kicked off with Syracuse Heritage days (which is TRADITION for me...I love it) then 4th came with a bang! The great thing about that is we got to celebrate the 4th TWICE this year it was awesome. Clearfield fireworks were amazing, except people kept walking RIGHT through the middle of our sitting spot. Duncan sure had fun building a make shift fort. But needless to say it was not that strong of a fort cause people continued walk right by him and into our area. It was hilarious great laughter. Then we did Layton fireworks with the Shelley's and that was great, great food, great fireworks and great company. We had this cute little boy, and it was his first firework show and he wanted to be right by Dunc and I the WHOLE time. It was so sweet.

Then came CAMPING SEASON!! I love camping, L-O-V-E.....My family goes up to the Northslope (Unitahs, by millcreek) and had tons for fun, fourwheeling and playing hourseshoes. Then the following weekend we went up to trial Lake with Dunc's fam, and spent a lot of relaxing time fishing. I had a great time reflecting my life, my marriage and the gospel. It was a much needed ME time. Now I am back to real life....school, work, school, work. BUT hey I am almost done with school and hopefully get going on my career that I love to do. This weekend is Bear Lake for the BIG CARLSON REUNION so that is certainly going to be an adventur in itself...lots of boating and laughs...can't wait!
